Additional points on the final grade will not be allotted to a student who has previously passed the SOL but failed the course. GRADE POINT AVERAGE A student’s grade point average Weighted courses are weighted is computed on a 4.0 scale: as follows: A 4.0 A 5.0 B 3.0 B 4.0 C 2.0 C 3.0 D 1.0 D 2.0 F 0.0 Weighted Courses All dual-credit courses 4th and 5th level foreign language Physics Advanced Composition Advanced Math Advanced Virginia and U.S. History Advanced Virginia and U.S. Government CLASS RANK Students in each class will be ranked according to their grade point average. The final ranking is calculated at the end of the second semester of a student’s senior year. HONOR ROLL An honor roll is compiled at the end of each nine weeks. For students to be included they must have all “A’s” and/or “B’s”. PARENTAL CONFERENCES Parents desiring conferences should call the student’s guidance counselor or an administrator for an appointment. Appointments with a teacher will be scheduled during a teacher’s planning period, before school, or after school, unless special circumstances exist. Upon request of the parent/teacher, an administrator will be present during the conference. SUMMER SCHOOL Summer school is offered on campus every year. ACADEMIC SUMMER SCHOOL Grayson County High School offers a remedial summer session for all students who fail an SOL test but pass the class. EXPEDITED RETAKES Students scoring between 375 and 399 on SOL tests qualify for an expedited retake. This must be taken within four weeks after Grayson County High School receives the official score. Contact the School Testing Coordinator for details. SOL REMEDIATION/TUTORING SOL remediation and tutoring are offered after school during the academic year.
