Rotating payoffs and take-ups

Pourtier, of Gauder Group, designs and manufactures a wide range of rotating payoffs and take-ups. These machines are designed for many applications such as stranding, assembling, screening, or armouring for power cable, including OPGW cables and Milliken, or telecom cables. Pourtier payoffs and take-ups are open cradle or fork types, ranging from 1 ton 1,000mm to 30 tons 4,000mm. A special development has been made for a difficult application, Milliken conductors for high voltage cable up to 500kV. The individual sectors are paid off with an accurate, constant and equal tension to ensure perfect geometry of the finished conductor. A special correction system is also used to automatically adjust the relative angular position of each segment before entering into the laying-up block.

CMGZ309 digital tension controller from FMS offers selectable control of unwind brake or drive, intermediate drive, or rewinding drive. As a plug and play unit all functions can be configured easily via a user-friendly control panel with a wind rose keypad and two lines LCD. Collari Edore’s coil winder and decoiler with in-line lubricating is a simple to use system for turn to turn winding of normal or coated ductile wires, annealed or zinc plated iron, copper or zinc aluminium with diameters up to 5mm. It will accommodate coils of up to 150mm wide with an outer maximum diameter of 340mm and inner diameter of 200mm, weighing up to 50kg. The system is equipped with electronic wire-guide pitch adjustment using a special keyboard. The system makes the machine extremely flexible and rapid for winding any diameter of wire with maximum precision. Winding stops when the desired number of coiled layers is reached. An automatic pneumatic system extracts the finished bound coil from the winding drum. The coil winder is combined with Collari Edore’s unwinder static decoiler model SV2. It is adaptable for use with large skeins up to about 1,000kg or special or standard internal baskets up to 1,500mm height.
