DECEMBER 6-15 LAS VEGAS

CLEMENTS HAS HIGH HOPES Clements, who was fourth in the latest world standings with $81,321, was sidelined a couple of weeks with a left knee injury he suffered July 19 at an unsanctioned rodeo. Clements had a meniscus tear and some cartilage that needed to be cleaned out. He underwent arthroscopic surgery July 26 in Salt Lake City. He returned to action for the Wrangler ProRodeo Tour’s Farm-City Pro Rodeo in Hermiston, Ore., Aug. 8-11, and now he’s trying to get in the best shape he can be in for the Wrangler NFR. “My knee is getting much better, and it feels super strong,” Clements said. “Since the season ended, I’ve focused on getting my knee as strong and as flexible as possible. I’ve been doing a lot of hamstring and quad work. My knee has come a long way since the injury first happened.” Clements made his Wrangler NFR debut last season, finishing 10th in the world standings with $166,486. Jarboe missed three months of the season after injuring his back March 21 following an 87-point ride on Andrews Rodeo’s F1 at Rodeo Austin (Texas), but he returned for the summer run. for the first time.

By the time the PRCA regular season concluded, Jarboe had climbed to fourth in the world standings. Jarboe is making his third- consecutive trip to the Wrangler NFR. However, he acknowledged dealing with the back injury is still a day-to-day thing. “I don’t know if I will have enough time to get back to full strength, but it is definitely better than it was, but I can still feel it,” said Jarboe, 22. “I’ve just been doing a lot of core workouts, and I’ve also been going to the wrestling room (in New Plymouth, Idaho) working out with high school guys.” During the Finals in Las Vegas, there are no rest days, but that’s not something weighing on Jarboe’s mind. “That place, Vegas, if you do your job and ride your bulls and get away clean you should not be sore,” he said. “The objective there is to ride my bulls and hopefully get away clean. I’m very thankful that the Justin Sportsmedicine guys will be there if I need them. I’m going to continue to work out around here and go to the wrestling room, and for Thanksgiving I will go into Condon, Ore., to see family, and they own some bulls that I can get on before the NFR.” A year ago, Jarboe finished ninth in the world standings and battled through a left ankle injury he suffered in Round 1. “After Round 1, my ankle really

hampered me, especially trying to get off bulls,” Jarboe said. “This year I know how to ride through things like that, so if I do happen to get hurt in a way like that, this year I think I can handle it.”

Bull rider Roscoe Jarboe had an 87-point trip on Honeycutt Rodeo’s Braggin Rights to finish second Wrangler NFR.
