ASSESSMENT

Unit 2 - Monuments Or Epitaphs: Students will look at works by various composers considered to be influential works of their nature, with particular reference to instrumental works and their importance to music performance, composition and literacy. They will explore a wide variety of works considered landmarks in their form or place in music history, acquiring an understanding of the various elements needed for a critical analysis. • Unit 3 - Film Music: Students will explore the fission and fusion of music as it is used in film. They will develop an understanding of the various elements that are used in film music.

Musicology – comparative analysis

• Composition – compose a work demonstrating distinctive stylistic characteristics • Performance – performance of a work demonstrating its particular place in history

The exit dimensions are: 1. Musicology 2. Composing 3. Performing Each is weighted equally. The following table is used to determine the exit level of achievement: EXIT LEVEL MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Very High Standard A in any two dimensions no less than a B in the remaining dimension High Standard B in any two dimensions no less than a C n the remaining dimension Sound Standard C in any two dimensions no less than a D in the remaining dimension Limited At least Standard D in any two dimensions and an E in the remaining dimension Very Limited Standard E in the three dimensions
