Chapter 5

The Law Fulfilled

The Staff, a Branch

Divine law is not a law—it is a set of precepts that act as a guiding light to influence or rule personal behavior. The loving precepts conflict with law, for the law is enacted to mandate human behavior. Although well intentioned, these mandates are reflective of behavior after the fact. Nothing is perfect within the law, because the law justifies those who rule under it; the law becomes a self-serving mandate. Divine law is self- discipline with a precept to love and uphold morality, not a set of mandates [human law] that are imperfect.
