The October 2017 survey result indicates a relatively consistent trend in the packaging of fluid milk in California. The gallon, half gallon, and half pint (8 oz.) containers remain the top three container sizes of fluid milk sold in California for October 2017. The top three containers accounted for 95.5 percent of the container sizes sold in October 2017; gallon container (68.9%); half gallon containers (16.3%); and half pint (8 oz.) containers (10.3%). The survey also indicates that the plastic and paper containers remain the top two container types sold in California for October 2017. The plastic container accounted for 78.7 percent of container types sold, while the paper container accounted for 19.2 percent.
