PGA Village Verano is located in the city of Port St. Lucie on Florida’s Treasure Coast—the gateway to South Florida.

The Treasure Coast offers everything visitors and newcomers flock to Florida to find, but with much less congestion and a lower cost of living than can be found in Palm Beach or Broward counties. Another fact that keeps residents sleeping well at night: Port St. Lucie was listed in the top 25 percent for Safest City in the US and #3 Safest City in Florida according to SafeHome.org. Proximity is everything at PGA Village, and neighboring Tradition and St. Lucie West both offer a wealth of diversions, from casual and fine dining to museums, theater, shopping, sporting activities, botanical gardens, fishing, dog parks and miles of beaches. And Port St. Lucie continues to grow. “We’re setting records for the number of permits for new commercial and residential construction,” said Terissa Aronson, president and CEO, St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce. Along with many

new restaurants, Port St. Lucie has recently welcomed a variety of new stores, including Aldi, Burlington Coat Factory, HomeGoods, LA Fitness and a Walmart Neighborhood Market, while natural and organic foods retailer Lucky’s Grocery is scheduled to open this year. Just nine miles from Verano, historic Fort Pierce is a charming marina town filled with restaurants, shops, art galleries and museums. The city plays host to Bike Night, Friday Fest and a weekly farmers market. Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce and the Lyric Theatre in Stuart host a varied calendar of live performances and theatrical productions. The entertainment district on Hutchinson Island heats up with live music and fresh seafood at waterfront restaurants and bars.

In the Spotlight

Everyone is talking about Port St. Lucie—it’s a city on the move. In 2017 for the third year in a row, Port St. Lucie was named one of the top 100 “Best Places for Business & Careers” by Forbes magazine. A cost of living that’s below the national average, four colleges and universities, a temperate year-round climate, and a wealth of recreational opportunities are some of the reasons Port St. Lucie is on everyone’s radar. Movoto.com , a national online real estate brokerage, ranked Port St. Lucie “The Best City in Florida” based on livability, crime rate, cost of living and housing costs. Bloomberg rated Port St. Lucie as one of the leading cities in the nation in 2016. To accommodate all its growth, the city is focused on upgrading the transportation infrastructure, which will serve both the business community and local residents. St. Lucie officials have recruited a carrier to offer limited commercial flights to the general aviation airport, which has been renamed Treasure Coast International Airport. The airport is presently one of the busiest general aviation airports in the state. It is in a foreign trade zone and currently sees a large number of arrivals from the Bahamas. Road improvements are also in progress. The Crosstown Parkway connects I-95 to US 1 and has dramatically decreased the amount of time it takes to travel between those major highways. The medical sector is growing rapidly in Port St. Lucie. Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies has brought national recognition to this town. The nonprofit research center, dedicated to the improvement of human health, is housed in a $40 million state-of-the-art LEED- certified facility in Tradition. Area medical facilities are also experiencing growth. Tradition Medical Center, part of Martin Health System, has added three new floors to accommodate a larger patient base, and Lawnwood Regional Medical Center, part of the Treasure Coast HCA, opened a pediatric emergency department to complement the facility’s comprehensive pediatric care.

Other newsmakers that have come to Port St. Lucie include Christ Fellowship Church. The nation’s ninth-largest megachurch opened a new location here in 2016.

PGA Village A Golfer’s Paradise

Named “One of the 72 Best Golf Resorts” by Golf Digest , PGAGolf Club offers 54 holes of championship golf, professional golf instruction at the PGACenter for Golf Learning and Performance, and access to a new PGAClubhouse, which celebrates the history of PGA golf. Next door, PGA Village Verano is the only new home community sharing an affiliation with this esteemed destination, providing residents with social memberships along with an opportunity for golf cart access to the courses and clubhouse. PGA Village’s newly renovated clubhouse, designed by TomHochDesign, is more than double the size of the original clubhouse that opened in 1996. It represents a new era for PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie. Special significance was given to the PGA Gallery, which houses major championship trophies and PGA artifacts, including the original Wanamaker Trophy, the prize for winning the PGAChampionship. The new contemporary clubhouse offers several venues where PGA Golf Club members and their guests can relax. The Taplow Pub features a wide variety of delicious menu offerings, along with

leading-edge audio and video equipment and 15 televisions. The intimate Captains’ Room is a wine room that pays tribute to Ryder Cup captains. The Nineteen-Sixteen Bar & Grill overlooks the 18th hole of the Wanamaker Course, and the Wanamaker Pavilion is a private outdoor spot with a view of the course. The new clubhouse also features a boardroom, expanded locker rooms and a modern golf shop. PGA Village general manager Jimmy Terry said, “We now have a 21st century centerpiece to accompany our championship golf courses that will serve as a point of pride for our members and golfers from around the world to enjoy.” New challenges await golfers each day on the greens. The Tom Fazio–designed Ryder Course is set against rolling hills and is known for its water hazards. Fazio also designed the Wanamaker Course, which is reminiscent of Old Florida, as it meanders among saw palmetto, palms and wetlands. Designed by Pete Dye, the links-style Dye Course has the feel of the British Isles, with roughs and bunkers. There are also a PGA Short Course and the Country Club Course.

“ Golf, golf and more golf! With three golf courses, and all the social events, I am improving my game and having a ball! ”
