• For tumours ‘a’ is negative 

Typical range -5 (‘less malignant’) – meningioma  to -15 (‘more malignant’) - chordoma

• For normal tissues ‘a’ is positive  Parallel - near 1 

Serial – larger e.g. up to 20 for spinal cord

‘a’ = 1/n in the LKB formulation


