Service Booking Line no longer being used for any services
You no longer need to call and book a seat at our services. Just turn up as we did before the COVID 19 pandemic. We have more seats available because 6 people from different households may now sit together.
Weekday Morning Prayer Services will be taking place as follows

Please enter via the South Porch as the Extension door will remain locked .
— St Marys 9.30am Morning Service
Both churches will be open after morning prayer until 4.00pm for Individual Prayer. Please sign your name and contact details in the book when you enter one of our churches so that we can contact you should there be a Covid related need to do so.
There will also be a Group Zoom Service at 9.00am on every Sunday for those who worship from home.

Our Books of Remembrance Since coming to the Parish of Fawkham and Hartley I have become very conscious of both the importance of place in our daily life and also the importance of community. Unfortunately our church buildings have remained closed for much of the time and we have missed gathering together and supporting each other through the ups and downs of life. Much of my ministry time over the past 16 months has involved the ministry of death and bereavement, mainly but not entirely, because of the pandemic we are living through. I know many families, both those known to the church family and others that we may not know in our fellowship have felt very supported and cared for during their time of loss. In addition to myself and the ministry team involved in funeral ministry, we have a pastoral team and bereavement team which have continued their work over this time, and we thank them for all they have done and continue to do. I am aware that as our churches have remained closed for much of this time as we have implemented the Government guidelines, that people will have been unable to pray and reflect as they would ordinarily have done in these places. This will have undoubtedly been very significant around the time of the passing of a loved one as loss is mourned and grieved, when entry to the building on a particular day has not been available. We hope that we may be able to open our church buildings more regularly in the not too distant future. We have two Books of Remembrance, one in All Saints Church Hartley and one in St Mary ’ s Church Fawkham, which provide comfort for people in their loss as names are recorded. Every day in time the pages are turned so the names can be viewed on the relevant day. In addition, in our intercessions we will remember the names of all those who have been known to us on the first anniversary of their passing. If you would like to have the name of a departed loved one read out beyond the first anniversary please let Lucie know so that we can do that at the church service you are hoping to attend. We will in addition in November hopefully have our annual Memorial Service when we will remember the departed from many years past. This is always a very moving service and no doubt will be this year following the pandemic which has resulted in so much loss and suffering. If you would like to have the name of a departed loved one written in one of the books after their service has taken place requests can be made to the Rector, via the Parish Office. There is a charge of £15 for this which covers the administration and calligraphy only. To ensure the Books are available for viewing as much as possible we remove them from our churches for a short period twice a year in March and September when the inscriptions are added. If you would like to speak with me about any of the issues I have raised please do not hesitate to do so. My phone number is 01474 703819. Love in Christ, Adele
May 30th Produce Stall at the Church Centre How much did we raise?
Our cakes and plants raised £176 for church funds. Thank you so much to every one who brought items for sale or purchased them. A special thanks also to Frances and Julie who ran the stall on the day. There will not be a produce stall in June as we have our Calendar Photo Exhibition on 3rd July. More about that on the next page..

2022 Calendar Photo Competition
Exhibition and Pop Up Tea Shop 11am until 4pm July 3rd 2021
Wow! We have received almost 60 entries to the Calendar photo competition. Thank you to all those who entered. The next stage will be the exhibition of photos at which you will be able to vote for your favourites to appear in the calendar. Sadly it ’ s not practical for the calendar vote to include all of them. A few of us are busy with the difficult task of choosing the ones which will go forward to the exhibition.
It will take place on 3rd July at the Church Centre between 11am and 4pm. You will also be able to order copies of the calendar on the day as well. The Teashop will hopefully be outside although we have a wet weather plan just in case! Here is our likely menu
Roll & side garnish — Ham, Cheese or Tuna
Cheese Scones with butter
Slice of Victoria, Lemon, Chocolate or Coffee Cream Sponge
Fruit or Plain Scone, Homemade Raspberry Jam and Cream
Fruit or Plain Scone with Homemade Raspberry Jam and Butter
Slice of Victoria, Lemon, Chocolate or Coffee Sponge
Drinks — Tea, Coffee or Squash
We are wondering how many people to cater for. If you think you might come along and spend some time in the Tea Shop it would be really helpful if you would let Christine know. No obligation—although if you would like—you can book a table and time. Its just to give an idea for catering.
