HUGHES ADMINISTRATION CENTER CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE The former diocesan building is being remodeled into an admin- istrative/student services center. On May 12. /995. the building was named in honor of retiring president Author E. Hughes and his wife. Marjorie. acknowledg- ing their 24 years of service to the university. This fall. the university opened the first phase of the long- awaited campus mall. M arian Way has been closed in front of the lmmacu/ata and the new Hughes Center. and a plaza • with a fountain has been con- structed. The plaza was made possible by a gift from USO trusteesJim and Kathryn Colachis. The fountain was a gift from Forrest and Patsy Shumway. The plaza will be· dedicated to those who so generously gave $53 million to the university between 1986 and 1992. M ajor donors to the Education for a New Age capital campaign will be recog- nized on individual tiles placed in the plaza. Through the Education for a New Age campaign. 2.400 donors provided funding for the Hahn University Center. Pardee
