Policy Title: INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The East Central Community College (ECCC) Office of Information Technology consists of two functional units characterized by unique priorities pertaining to technologies. These units include: (1) information systems, and (2) institutional systems. Coordination, interaction, and interdependence of work between the information systems and institutional systems units exist and are necessary. However, delineation between the two units reflects broad differences in specialization helpful in the overall administration of campus information technology. The information systems unit supports the collection, management, and distribution of data and information related to ECCC applicants, students, trainees, employees, alumni, and constituents. The aforementioned services are facilitated through the College’s Enterprise Information System ( see Policy 621.8, ENTERPRISE INFORMATION SYSTEM ). The primary emphases of the information systems unit are related to management and processing of data along with large, enterprise-scale databases and software systems. Information systems include: o notifications (such as instructional early alerts, etc.); o application programming interfaces (API, such as with the learning management system); o distribution groups; • Enterprise Information System o Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP); o Student Information System (SIS); o Campus Web Portal (MyEC); o financial aid award and processing system (PowerFAIDS). The institutional systems unit supports a wide range of digital technologies supporting the breadth of college computing capabilities. The primary emphases of the institutional systems unit are related to networking, computer hardware, end user applications, electronic communications, campus safety and security, and educational technologies. Institutional systems include: • Interactivity and interconnection solutions o electronic forms;

• network infrastructure (servers, cabling, switching, WAN, Wi-Fi, etc.); • educational technology; • communications technologies such as email and Warrior Alert; • desktop/mobile computing and application software; • telephone and voicemail systems; • presentation technology and support; • security camera network; • network printing; • auxiliary business systems.

The Office of Information Technology offers assistance to the College community pertaining to all technology services by providing technical expertise in the areas of: planning, procurement, implementation, professional development, training, data security, disaster recovery, business process development and enhancement, and departmental as well as end-user support.
