Policy No: 704 Policy Contact: Vice President for Business Operations Policy Title: APPOINTMENTS AND EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURES FOR NON-TEACHING INSTITUTIONAL SUPPORT STAFF (HOURLY PERSONNEL) Applicants for full-time hourly positions must submit an application for employment. When a position vacancy occurs, the supervisor of the vacant position completes the Position Opening Approval Form and submits the form to the appropriate Vice President for approval to fill the position. Once the request to fill the position has been approved by the President, the supervisor of the vacant position will interview prospective full-time hourly employees. The supervisor of the vacant position will conduct at least two reference checks on a recommended candidate(s) prior to making a final recommendation. The supervisor will make recommendations for the employment of full-time hourly employees to his/her appropriate supervisor and then to the appropriate Vice President. Final approval of the employment of full-time hourly employees is made by the President. The employment of full-time hourly employees does not require Board of Trustees’ approval. The office of Human Resources maintains the official personnel files for all full-time hourly employees with copies of the payroll files maintained in the Business Office.
