Policy Title: FACULTY RESEARCH AND SERVICE TO THE SUPPORT DISTRICT

As employees of a service institution, ECCC faculty should expect to engage in voluntary service activities within the support district. Faculty members with ability to speak before civic clubs, school audiences, etc., should do so providing the activity does not infringe on their classroom work. Research and publication should be recognized and encouraged but are not seen as the primary functions of a community college faculty member. Usual expense (mileage and the like) incurred by a faculty member while speaking or engaging in community service on behalf of ECCC will be borne by the institution. Travel requests are to be submitted on the official college forms for such community activities.
