C.9 DIRECTOR OF BANDS/INSTRUCTOR

General Statement of the Function : The Director of Bands/Instructor is responsible for the coordination and direction of all instrumental programs and instrumental performing groups. The Director of Bands/Instructor reports to the Chair of the Fine Arts Division and to the President.

Duties and Responsibilities :

1. Serves as Director of Bands and Coordinator of the instrumental music program; 2. Coordinates and schedules all marching band and pep band performances; 3. Coordinates and schedules all concert band performances; 4. Coordinates and schedules all jazz band performances; 5. Coordinates and schedules all other instrumental performing groups as needed for specific functions; 6. Conducts pit orchestra for the Spring musical; 7. Coordinates the inventories of all band equipment, music, and uniforms; 8. Coordinates the maintenance and care of band facilities; 9. Prepares the annual band budget; 10. Coordinates all band recruiting activities and files; 11. Awards all instrumental scholarships; 12. Serves as instructor for two sections of Music Appreciation per semester; 13. Serves as advisor and instructor for instrumental music majors;

14. Serves as a member of the Recruitment Task Force; 15. Serves on faculty committees as assigned; and 16. Other duties as assigned.
