G.18 WORKFORCE PLACEMENT COORDINATOR/WIOA CASE MANAGER

General Statement of the Function: The Workforce Placement Coordinator/WIOA Case Manager will work closely with business and industry by recruiting, training, and nurturing partnerships with local businesses and community organizations. Specific duties will involve initiating and developing specific career exploration and job placement activities such as career speakers, workplace tours, job shadows, work-based learning, internships, apprenticeships and externships for Career & Technical Education (CTE) students throughout the counties of Leake, Neshoba, Newton and Scott. The Workforce Placement Coordinator/WIOA Case Manager reports to the Director of Workforce Development. 1. Determine and address employment and personal needs of current students and WIOA participants using assessment, counseling and available resources in order to improve the chance of successful completion of programs, obtaining and retaining employment; 2. Conduct personal interviews to establish eligibility and needs; 3. Coordinate placement in internships, externships, apprenticeships and work-based learning opportunities; 4. Provide supportive services based on individual needs and program budget; 5. Maintain effective case management by submitting timely necessary paperwork and case notes; 6. Initiate and maintain communication and linkage with ECCC instructors; 7. Conduct participant follow-up; 8. Maintain a scheduled presence in the WIN Job Centers in ECCC/Twin District Workforce Development district (TDWD); 9. Attend local business & industry networking events; 10. Be visible and involved in the business community; 11. Assure optimum program operation in relation to the stated goals and objectives of the Work Based Learning Program; 12. Make contacts with prospective employers to develop cooperative agreements for the placement of students in meaningful learning activities; 13. Recruit, select, and supervise students who participate in work-based learning opportunities; 14. Organize orientation sessions for new employees and student participants; 15. Refer students to employers who provide employment placement experiences; 16. Organize and meet with the Workforce Placement Advisory Committee and other instructor teams; 17. Monitor students’ performance on the job and in the classroom; 18. Visit and follow-up with employers to ensure quality learning experiences; 19. Recommend modifications in curricula and schedules to meet the needs of students and employers; 20. Assist in resume writing, job search, and interview skills workshops; 21. Assist in job placement activities and conducts follow-up reports on program graduates; and 22. Perform other duties as assigned. Grant Identified Measures of Effectiveness and Performance: 1. Number of participants being counseled; 2. Number of participants receiving support services; 3. Number of participants receiving internships; 4. Number of participants that obtain employment after completion of program and services; 5. Evaluation instruments given upon completion of the service to provide feedback to the Twin Districts Workforce Development Board and ECCC for continuous course improvements; and 6. Other performance goals relevant to the program. Duties and Responsibilities:
