G .25 CAREER COACH – SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT DISTRICT(SMPDD) General Statement of the Function : The Career Coach will be responsible for the implementation and execution of the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Workforce Training and Education Program (WTEP) objectives. The Career Coach will provide career counseling, job readiness training, tutoring, mentoring, adult basic education training, and all other necessary pre-employment skills to eligible participants ages 16 through 59. The success of this position is dependent on being able to achieve program goals. This position reports to the SMPDD Regional Career Navigator. 1. Determine program eligibility as defined by the TANF requirements; 2. Complete participant enrollment, including the collection of required documentation; 3. Complete participant enrollment in the automated data system (MS Works) and uploading the supporting documentation; 4. Maintain participant attendance records, files, and accurate case notes; 5. Administer Test for Adult Education (TABE); 6. Administer objective assessments; 7. Provide trauma-informed care to participants; 8. Coordinate supportive services that will assist the participant with attendance and participation in program activities and make referrals to partnering agencies as appropriate; 9. Make appropriate referrals to mental health facilities; 10. Develop an Individual Service Strategy (ISS) that includes a career pathway for participants and update on a regular basis; 11. Provide the Smart Start academic and job readiness classroom training to eligible participants; 12. Schedule and prepare participants for the NCRC; 13. Review all attendance records, work experience timesheets, request for supportive services, and request for incentives for accuracy; 14. Schedule High School Equivalency testing; 15. Prepare participants for a successful work-based learning activity (work experience, internship, apprenticeship); 16. Provide instruction on job search skills, resume writing, and interview skills; 17. Meet with participants on a regular basis to review progress and make adjustments as needed; 18. Maintain monthly status changes and required monthly reports; 19. Coordinate with the Regional Career Navigator to achieve successful TANF program outcomes; 20. Conduct outreach and recruitment activities for TANF participants as needed; 21. Provide follow-up services to exited participants as required; 22. Assist participants in accessing advanced training and/or post-secondary education opportunities in selected career pathway; 23. Maintain confidentiality as it pertains to the TANF funded program and participants; 24. Become familiar with the services offered by all of the partners of the WIN Job Center; Duties and Responsibilities :

25. Attend required and meetings; and 26. Perform all other duties as assigned
