DST-32 Investigating Performance of Two-Weight Valve Units on 1-Pass Valve Tray (Cont…) The TAC approved the following test plan for the 2017 test of the DST-22 8-ft 2-pass valve trays was approved: • Phase 1: the 10.8% VCA 2015 design without the bottom tray from the 2015 design and moving the trays down by 6-inches. • Phase 2: a 10.8% VCA tray with dual weight valves – 12 ga and 16 ga - to be tested after Phase 1. • Phase 3: a 10.8% VCA 1-pass valve tray with 16 ga valves to provide a true like-for like valve curtain area (VCA) comparison between the 1- and 2-pass trays. One-pass tray comparisons are only possible with the single weight 16 ga Ty.A (V-1) valve tray with 13.7% VCA. Phases 1 & 2 have been completed; the Phase 3 1-pass trays were to be tested in the future, and not immediately after Phase 2 of the DST-22 program. The TAC discussed also testing dual weight valves on a 1-pass tray in a future test, but no decision was made. Traditional Research Idea
