Inspect ion and corrosion protect ion

Flange rescue gasket Flexitallic’s award-winning Flange Rescue Gasket (FRG) was created in direct response to industry challenges in inspection and corrosion management in corrosive environments.

the PTFE type used ensures that the FRG conforms even to highly corroded and damaged flange surfaces. This eliminates the need for machining of flange faces or replacing complete flanges. Since its introduction, the FRG has been recognised for its innovation and effectiveness by engineers and industry bodies. In the past 12 months it has won first prize at the DuPont Plunkett Awards 2013 and the NACE Corrosion Innovation of the Year. Alex Lattimer, marketing director at Flexitallic, said, “The Flange Rescue Gasket demonstrates Flexitallic’s continued drive for innovation through the creation of solutions that meet the challenges of our customers. The FRG also highlights our commitment to keeping our customers ‘Flexitallic Safe’, which is our intrinsic approach to business that demonstrates our commitment to delivering products, services and professional support to maintain the highest standards of safety.” Pure Technologies has announced that its wholly owned subsidiary has been awarded new work in Australia for its engineering and inspection services on critical water and wastewater pipelines. Pure Technologies (Aus) Pty Ltd has been awarded new work worth $2.6mn from an existing customer in Brisbane, Australia. Of this amount, approximately $1mn represents an extension of services related to a previous award announced in the fourth quarter of 2013. This work, currently underway, involves the continued use of Pure’s condition assessment and leak detection technologies for a critical wastewater pipeline made up of primarily concrete pipe sections. The remainder of the award, valued at $1.6mn, is for similar services, but solely for condition assessment of

The FRG eradicates the lengthy and costly process of flange inspection and maintenance, and enables corroded flange joints in pipelines in the oil and gas industry to be sealed easily. Bright and easily identifiable, the FRG has a corrosion resistant, fluoropolymer- coated body with integral bolt holes for easy installation and correct location. Engineers can inspect flanges, assess internal corrosion and re-seal using the FRG and its sealing technology, which conforms to the corroded flange surface creating an effective seal in a fraction of the time. The patented system has a precision manufactured metal body coated with expanded Sigma polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). The high compressibility of
