Metalube wins Queen’s Award for second year

The new structure, announced by managing director Lee Jon Newman, forms part of the company’s ambitious growth agenda and is also aligned with its strategy to deliver customer service via its network of branches across the UK. With Mr Newman at its head, the leadership team consists of Kevin Hartshorne, sales director; Geoff Stone, national accounts director; Andy McEwan, commercial director; David Beattie, sourcing director; Iain Mills, Scotland director; Richard Jones, finance director; and Chris Banner in the newly created role of branch director. Mr Newman commented, “The new structure is designed with customers in mind, putting them at the heart of our business and positioning us to take advantage of the growth opportunities I believe will arise. I am delighted that Pipe Center and Climate Center’s new leadership team includes several Specialist lubricant manufacturer Metalube Ltd has been awarded a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise for Innovation 2014. This is the second successive year that the company has been honoured with this accolade. Exporting to over 86 countries worldwide, the company won in the International Trade category in 2013. The Innovation Award was made to Metalube for inventing a novel synthetic grease – OCG 6000 – to protect over- head electrical conductors. The corrosion-preventing grease can operate at over 200°C with an operational life exceeding 20 years. OCG 6000 extends the lives of conductors and ultimately saves capital investments by delaying future renewal of pylon infrastructure.
