MINING

mechanically driven cutting drum for mining medium hard rock such as baux- ite, iron ore, gypsum, coal, phosphate or oil shale. There is a cutting drum for every application where the toolholder system is tailored to the requirements of the application. The cutting drum housing consists entirely of wear- re- sistant material and together with the hard-wearing mining tools not only in- creases the miner’s cutting performance but also reduces the overall operating cost. In addition the 2200SM offers three different operating modes: the cut material can be directly loaded into trucks via the miner’s conveyor system, discharging to the side of the machine by means of the slewing discharge conveyor or deposited as a wind-row between the machine’s track units and also loading trucks from that position. The spacious operators cab is easily accessed from either side of the machine and with it extending beyond the sides of the machine, both left and right, the

miner operator has full view of the area to be cut. Being fully air-conditioned and heated, the operator is well protected against heat, dust and extreme cold. The anti-vibration mounted and soundproof cabin also protects the operator from vibration and noise emission levels. . A camera system designed exclusively for a particular operation, enables the machine operator to conveniently differentiate between mineral being mined and any overburden. Using a surface miner means dispensing with blasting thus providing a positive effect on overall efficiency and reduc- tion in the cost of material processing. A major benefit however, is disposing of crushing equipment and the ongoing production costs associated with it. Only one machine is needed to complete sev- eral stages of the process thus simplify- ing the coordination and planning of the mining cycle. b
