Colorado Wire & Cable supplied its Okonite products to power the 48MW LM 6000 Soldotna turbine, one of two plants used as a backup power source. Colorado Wire and Cable supplied the products to the NAES Corporation, a contractor which worked directly with HEA on the Soldotna project. Based in Denver, Colorado Wire & Cable frequently works within the power and utility industry to provide electrical wire and cable for various types of power plants, including those powered by nuclear, hydro, solar and wind energy.
Alaskan electrical company Homer Electric Association has announced the completion of its new power plant, using wire and cable products supplied by Colorado Wire & Cable. The Soldotna Combustion Turbine is part of HEA’s $180 million Independent Light project, under which the company aims to produce all of its own power, increasing output while decreasing its reliance on fossil fuels.
