AOAC Methods Review (Codex STAN 234)

14. Is this method in use in your laboratory or by other laboratories of which you are aware? 14a. If yes, please provide information about these laboratories and their use of the method

Yes

I have seen dryash/AAS methods used in TPLs in India, China, and South America, generally because their needs are simple and they have limited funds to purchase microwave ovens, ICPs, etc. So, a typical situation for us is working with a TPM to make a product for us, and they have their own lab or hire a TPL in the area. The TPM is used to making products for other clients that have broader specs, but we want to make an adult nutritional product with much tighter specs for minerals. Thus, we try to harmonize our ICP methods with the TPM/TPL AAS methods and find they are generally less precise and sometimes have recovery issues (are low OOS) as mentioned above.
