G reetings STACK music lovers. Did you get your Splendour in the Grass tickets? If not, I’m sorry I brought it up. If so, let’s cogitate on this spectacular line-up together. Robert Smith and his seminal band The Cure are the number one must-see for me, but the other giant- name headliners are going to be a treat as well: The Strokes, Sigur Ros, Leon Bridges, The Internet, Michael Kiwanuka (check out Black Man in a White World if you haven't already) and The Kills will all be jam-packed performances for

the (sunshiney, fingers crossed) weekend. Then you’ve got the Aussie contingent, which is a heavenly listing in itself: Urthboy hot off the back of his recent acclaimed The Past Beats Inside Me Like A Second Heartbeat ; Harley Streten AKA Flume, our golden baby; massive east-coasters Violent Soho and Hermitude; the magnificent and many-crowned Courtney Barnett; Sui Zhen, who recently signed with US label Twosyllable; folk-pop outfit Boy & Bear; and of course, The Avalanches – do you think this show means the fabled second

album might be on the horizon for the beloved electronica act? We can only hope so. Meanwhile we’re all pumped up for The Temper Trap’s third album, Thick As Thieves . I got to hear a selection of its tracks recently and as far as first impressions go, this record could well solidify the Melbourne four-piece’s legacy way out into the stratosphere.
