Trusting the Number: More Considerations • For calibration curves… • Standards should be matrix matched with the sample • Ionization buffers may help with signal depression present in high matrix samples (mainly for K and Na) • Internal standard correction factors could be too extreme (General rule of thumb, >30% is too much). • Sample readings could be outside the linear range of a calibration set.
