Summary of Observations • Fe is obviously the major source of interferences. • Determined by running single element standards at the same levels as the sample of interest. • High level element spectral lines (ones with low sensitivity) generally do not show up in instrument software lines libraries.

High-level Elements of Concern

• Fe and other 1 st row transition metals • “HF” elements such as W, Zr, Mo • All of the rare-earth elements • Uranium is by far the worst • Very important to run clean single element standards to verify the source of interferences • Utilize a lines library for guidance
