5.3 A benefit eligible employee approved for workers’ compensation will remain in a workers’ compensation absence status until he returns to work, is placed in a leave without pay status, or is no longer an employee. An employee approved for workers’ compensation may not use paid leave, except in lieu of working modified duty, during an approved workers’ compensation absence. Sick leave may not be used for this purpose.
