WESSA Annual Review 2020

(NQF Level 2), and the Environmental Science Technician (NQF Level 6).

My biggest highlight was being the main facilitator for the Groen Sebenza Year 1 training. Besides the fact that I was once a Groen Sebenza intern myself in 2014-2015, for me the most important lesson was seeing how far I have come from the time I used to be an intern to where I am now. Knowing that we have done something to change peoples lives in a positive way is fulfilling. Besides giving them something as tangible as a certificate, the fact that our training has impacted someone and motivated them to begin a career in the green sector is beyond fulfilling. Planting a seed that we know will have a good and positive impact on someone’s life is what makes our training sessions important. Katlego Setshedi – WESSA Trainer. DEA-NRM Groen Sebenza Programme

We anticipate a growing demand for these qualifications in addition to our current suite of accredited courses, short courses and certified courses. In order to become “people caring for the earth” we have to acknowledge the increasingly important role played by WESSA in civil society to strengthen the capacity of people to care for the earth during extremely complex and uncertain times. Trained, informed and passionate individuals are needed with a true understanding of sustainable practices and a real empathy for our natural environment and resources. We believe that WESSA’s training team has a key role to play in partnership with government and industry.
