AlfaTech has an in-house sustainability design studio which consists of experienced and passionate architectural and engineering professionals with expertise towards delivering resilient and sustainable solutions for our clients. System studies range from but are not excluded to: • building envelope and massing analysis • glazing and solar controlled interior shading • lighting, lighting control, and daylighting • renewable energy systems (geothermal, solar thermal and PV) • diurnal cooling, energy storage, and load shifting (thermal and electrical storage, ice storage, fuel cell) • combined heating/cooling (CHP), co-gen plants • gray/black water treatment systems • innovative design solutions sharply focused on emerging technologies like smart buildings & cloud-based occupant environmental control The studio collaborates extensively with our energy solution group to benefit from an advanced array of analysis tools. Capabilities include energy and CFD modeling, wind studies, building massing and shading studies, daylighting and other specialty studies. Our joint efforts are driven by the desire to deliver the most resilient, eco-friendly, and cost-efficient buildings possible.

Molex Fremont, CA

Electronics manufacturer Molex acquired a 108,600 SF building consisting of office, lab, and warehouse space at 46360 Fremont Blvd. The building was built in 1983 and was in need of updates to the interior as well as exterior façade. AlfaTech provided MEP design, and fire protection services for this extensive tenant improvement project. ArcTec was the architect, and AlfaTech’s team members were Tim Chadwick, Mark Fisher, Ida Galperin, Rohini Pendyala, and Kyle Dutra. The space clearly represents this progressive and innovative high-tech company through the design of its open collaborative environment, including conference and training rooms, a lunch room, fitness center, patio and sport court, clean rooms, pilot line, dry lab and warehouse areas.

SF Team Visits Uber Mission Bay

AlfaTech’s San Francisco office had the opportunity to visit the Uber Mission Bay Headquarters project site with a tour lead by Principal, Saied Nazeri. AlfaTech is the engineer-of-record for the four high- rise office buildings. On the tour, Saied showed off some of the features included in this smart, eco-friendly campus; such as the interconnected atria system connecting two of the towers, the shaded facade with automated natural ventilation, chilled sails and occupant- controlled displacement ventilation systems, graywater reuse and rainwater catchment systems.
