Major Nord Stream coating contract leads to employment drive

770km of those pipes coated at the Mukran plant. The coating plant will occupy a surface area of 10,220m 2 with an additional 11,000m 2 occupied by the steam curing facility. Two main buildings (coating building, curing building) will be constructed as well as offices. In order to start the production in January 2009, construction is now well underway and will finish in August/September 2008. Setup will take place from August until the end of October, with testing running from November to December. All pipes for the first line of the Nord Stream pipeline will have to be coated by December 2009. Further to this project award, Eupec is now looking for qualified and talented candidates to fill a number of positions (based in Mukran). The positions include plant manager, production manager, cost controller, quality control managers, HSE managers, crane operators, maintenance managers, and IT managers. The company was selected to supply at least 15,000 tons of pipe, fittings and flanges for the Saudi Kayan Olefins Plant project. Managing this schedule driven project, worth in excess of US$38 million, the company will supply from stock and from more than 20 different manufacturers. The Kayan olefins plant, which will produce 1,350,000 tons of olefins per annum, will be erected at the Saudi Kayan cracker complex in the Jubail Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. Eupec, part of the Korindo Group (Indonesia), has won a substantial order worth €650 million for the supply of concrete weight coating and logistics services to implement the Nord Stream pipeline project. Nord Stream is a natural gas pipeline that will link Russia and the European Union via the Baltic Sea. The first of two parallel

pipelines is expected to be operational in the spring of 2011. Each line is approximately 1,220km long. Eupec will undertake the concrete weight coating for both Nord Stream pipelines at new coating plants to be constructed in Mukran (Germany) and Kotka (Finland).
