Planting Churches among the City's Poor - Volume 1
Part III Planting Urban Churches: Resources for Church Planters
The resources in Part III address four distinct areas relevant to leading teams as the church planter. First, materials are provided to give an overview of the church planting process, followed by the particular calling and character needed to plant a church, along with their primary duties and responsibilities. These materials are followed by a section that provide a look at some of the various models associated with church planting, and a collection of helpful tools that can be used as the leader and the team actually engages the community in evangelism, justice, and demonstration of the Gospel. Because World Impact’s church planting vision is not merely connected to planting individual churches in the city, but also facilitating church planting movements among the poor, the first section should be carefully read and reflected upon. The necessity of seeing the planting of individual congregations in connection with others in like-minded life and mission is essential for effective mission among the poor in the city. Planting individual congregations that have no link or tie to others has proven to be ineffective to bring about the kind of transformation so desperately needed among the communities of the under-served. Note: In this anthology you will see multiple references to the “Team Leader” or “Church Plant Team Leader.” All the citations that include these phrases (in all their varied usages) of team leader should now be understood as the “Church Planter.” Additionally, all the references to “Multiple Team Leader” should now be understood in our updated language as “Coach.”
