FLOW MEASUREMENT + INSTRUMENTATION

Pocket-sized flow measuring technology

temperature and totaliser values. Errors occurring during operations, such as a partial pipe filling or a temperature limit exceeded, are displayed via diagnostic symbols in accordance with NAMUR rec- ommendation NE 107. The screen rotates automatically in line with the installation position, whether horizontal or vertical. This provides for optimal readability. In addition, configuration parameters can be called up and monitored by simply knock- ing on the device. With Bluetooth connection, it is pos- sible to carry out wireless configuration or data retrieval over a distance of 10 m – even at installation sites that are diffi- cult to access. The SmartBlue App from Endress+Hauser, available for Android and iOS, provides the user with quick and easy navigation through all device and diagnos- tic functions. Another feature of the Picomag is the digital data transmission to process control systems via IO-Link technology. This com- munication standard is well established and can be combined with all conventional fieldbus systems. Thus, it offers flexibility in terms of installation into existing sys-

In industrial process measurement and automation, demand is rising for simple, reliable and maintenance-free measuring instruments in a pocket-sized format. Mak- ing no compromises, the Picomag from Endress+Hauser meets these require- ments. It measures the flow of electrically conductive fluids and their process tem- peratures. Whether for quantity measurement or process monitoring of cooling, heating or process water, as a result of its compact design, Picomag can be installed into pipes up to 50 mm in diameter, even in con- fined spaces. Various process connection adapters are available, such as NPT-thread, R-thread, internal thread, Tri-Clamp or Victaulic. Picomag is a cost-optimised solu- tion for applications where the focus is on high repeatability (±0.2% o.f.s) and reliable measured values – for correctly measuring water flows (max. 750 l/min), for example, or for minimising energy costs in utility ap- plications. Picomag is suitable for process temperatures between -10 and +70°C and for process pressures up to 16 bar. The large, user-friendly display allows an instant local process reading of flow,

tem infrastructures. The IO-Link master as an interface gives users comprehensive data access through the control room. The IO-Link technology also enables automat- ic transfer of parameters after a device replacement and makes for less wiring, compared to conventional wiring. The Picomag is well equipped to handle current and future requirements of pro- cess automation. Enquiries: Frans van den Berg, Product Manager: Flow at Endress+Hauser. New features in industrial gas flow meters

Bronkhorst has also introduced a PROFINET fieldbus interface on its industrial mass flow meters and controllers for gases. For this new fieldbus the FM and ATEX approvals are pending. PROFINET is regarded by many in industry as the ‘new stand- ard for industrial automation’, offering savings in configuration and commissioning. The flexible architecture of the system, with its comprehensive scope of functions, enables innovative, flexible and cost-saving machine automation, high performance and preci- sion, flexible address assignment and modular design, as well as fast commissioning due to open access, defined interfaces and optimal diagnostics on devices as well as the network. Bronkhorst has many years of experience with fieldbus com- munication. Depending on customer requirements, its digital flow meters and controllers can be equipped with one of the six availa- ble fieldbus interface options. The wide range of digital metering and control devices is ap- plied in many different sectors, in the food and beverage, pharma- ceutical and chemical industries, glass- and tool-coating processes and in machinery for solar cell production. In South Africa, Mecosa (Pty) Ltd is the sole agent for Bronk- horst High-Tech products. Enquiries: Mecosa,Tel. +27 (0)11 257 6100, or email: measure@mecosa.co.za

The In-Flow mass flow meters and controllers by Bronkhorst High-Tech, the Netherlands, are of rugged design, dust- and wa- terproof in line with IP65 rating, and available for flow ranges from 0,05-1 mln/min (millilitres normal per minute) up to 200- 10 000 m 3 n/h air-equivalent. In addition to the optional ATEX approv- al for use in Category 3, Zone 2 hazardous areas, the In- Flow series can now be offered with FM ap- proval for Class I,

Division 2, an im- portant feature for the North A m e r i c a n market. Bronkhorst High-Tech In-Flow mass flow meters are supplied with fieldbus interface offering advanced functionality.
