AlluGuard leads the way in Secure Roller Doors Gary Brooks, Managing Director of roller door manufacturer AlluGuard, is regularly asked one question by potential customers: “Are your doors secure?”

And Gary can say ‘yes’ to this question with some confidence, as the AlluGuard residential aluminium roller shutter door is accredited by Secured by Design (SBD) - the official flagship initiative from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO). This supports manufacturers such as AlluGuard that follow the principles of ‘designing out crime’ by making security considerations a key factor in product development. SBD accreditation is only given to products and applications that are made to the highest specifications in terms of security standards.

SBD accreditation requires certification from an independent, third-party UK Accreditation Service (UKAS) certification authority, which involves regular production audits and re-testing. The aim is to ensure consistent quality is maintained over time and is current – compared to products that may have been tested only once, possibly many years previously. SBD has accredited more than 600 companies in relation to their doors, windows, locks and many other security products. Using any of the products (all listed on www.securedbydesign.com ) ensures Building Regulation compliance for security. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation in the UK. “Although it’s required a lot of work and effort - both initially and on an ongoing basis - deciding to go for the SBD standard is one of the best decisions we have ever made,” comments Gary. “It’s all very well saying your doors are secure but having police accreditation proves it - so this has been a massive boost in building trust with our customer base.” SBD Development Officer, Alfie Hosker, adds: “AlluGuard is committed to providing secure products, demonstrated by the fact that they have invested in their garage door being certified to a recognised Police Preferred Specification of STS 202. From Rotherham to Belarus! Gary Brooks, MD of Rotherham-based AlluGuard, is a video star. At least he is on his own website, where Gary appears on a short film that highlights the many benefits of the AlluGuard roller garage door newly installed on his own property – and the advantages it has over the up-and- over alternative. In the video, Gary shows how he can park on his driveway for the first time without his car extending over the pavement line, as he can drive right up against his garage door – and still open it. He also shows the extra space available to him – enough to easily retrieve golf clubs and shopping, without the threat of clunking into a bulky door overhead. Other benefits extolled by Gary include extra storage space – thanks to the absence of fixed wall or ceiling tracks - and the tight fitting that keeps out chilly draughts and prevents leaves blowing under the door. Gary also shows off the door’s remote control capability – by opening the door at the press of a button from his car, without having to step out into the cold. And now, the video will soon be reaching millions more potential clients - as AlluGuard’s supplier in Belarus in Eastern Europe is currently translating it into several different European languages, to enable its continent-wide customer base to understand what’s going on. “The video has been very well received since we put it on the site – I think people like to see me, as MD, showing an AlluGuard product that’s installed in my own home.
