Meetings of the Council.

Sheriffs' Fees. A letter from the Minister of Justice was read enclosing draft scale of fees to be paid to Sheriffs on lodgment of decrees of District Courts for execution, and suggesting a conference between representatives of the Sheriffs, of the Mercantile Association, and of the Council of this Society to consider the draft scale. The Council appointed three members to attend the conference.

3rd December. Thirty-one Members present. Solicitors' Buildings. The Secretary reported compensation awarded the destruction of the contents of the Society's premises at the Four Courts, consisting of £2,000 cash, and £4,950 compensation stock. Compensation Awards, Section 15. The matter of the reduction by the Minister of Finance of amounts recommended by Circuit Court Judges under Section 15 of the Damages to Property (Compensation) Act, 1923, was referred to a Committee, and members were requested to send to the Secretary particulars of cases in which such reductions had been made. Dublin Gazette. A letter from a member was read drawing attention to the greatly increased charges for insertions of advertisements in the Dublin Gazette, and it was decided to make repre sentations on the matter. the receipt of in respect of

The Council elected Mr. Arthur H. S. Orpen to be President of the Society, and Mr. W. Gordon Bradley and Mr. Horace Turpin to be Vice-Presidents for the ensuing twelve months. Extra-Ordinary Members.
