Meetings of the Council.

Legal Appointments. Mr. R. Haldane Carson, Sessional Crown Solicitor for County Tyrone, has been appointed Crown Solicitor for County Tyrone, in place of Mr. James Riordan, resigned. Mr. C. E. R. A. Irvine, Sessional Crown Solicitor for County Fermanagh, has been appointed Crown Solicitor for County Fermanagh, in place of Mr. James Riordan, resigned. ———— Obituary. MR. REGINALD A. W. ANDREWS, Solicitor, died upon the 4th July, 1922, at his residence, 11 Tivoli Terrace, South, Dun Laoghaire. Mr. Andrews served his apprenticeship with the late Mr. Edward Fitzgerald, 20 St. Andrew Street, Dublin ; was admitted in Hilary Sittings, 1898, and practised (in partnership with Mr. James Fitzgerald and Mr. Ivan A. Howe, under the style of Messrs. D. & T. Fitzgerald) at 20 St. Andrew Street, Dublin. He was a member of the Council of the Society for the past two years. Destruction of Documents at the Four Courts. The following letter has been received by the Secretary from the Controller, Inland Revenue :— Inland Revenue, Jury's Hotel, 6-8 College Green, Dublin, 28^/2 July, 1922. Dear Sir, I beg to inform you that it has now been possible to obtain access to the safe in the Stamp Office in the Four Courts building. It has been found that a number of documents which had been left for the " Particulars Delivered" stamp, etc., are intact, and application can be made for them at this office (Room 53) by the Solicitors by whom they were deposited. July \2th. Thirty Members present. Death of Mr. R. A. Andrews.

The President referred with feelings of deep regret to the death of Mr. R. A. Andrews, member of the Council, and the following resolution was passed :— " Resolved—The Council of the Incor porated Law Society of Ireland have learnt with very deep regret of the death of their valued colleague, Mr. Reginald A. Andrews, and they desire to express their sympathy with the members of his family in their bereavement." The Free State. A report from the Privileges Committee in reference to the Draft Constitution of the Irish Free State was adopted. Register of British Government Securities. A report was submitted giving details of an interview between the President of the Dublin Stock Exchange, a member of the Committee of the Dublin Stock Exchange, and the President and Secretary of this Society, with the Minister of Finance of the Provisional Government, at which the question of the discontinuance of the keeping at the Bank of Ireland, Dublin, of registers of holders of British Government Securities was discussed. The members of the deputation urged that the keeping of the Registers at the Bank of Ireland should not be discontinued, and the reply of the Minister on this subject received by the deputation was considered satisfactory.

A special Committee was set up to consider all questions arising out of the destruction of records at the Four Courts, who will be glad to consider all suggestions on the subject which may be sent in writing to the Secretary.
