Solicitors' Bill (Northern Ireland). The above Bill, which has passed the House of Commons and the Senate of Northern Ireland, confers upon the Incorporated Law Society of Northern Ireland the powers and duties in Northern Ireland which the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland hitherto possessed and discharged under the Solicitors (Ireland) Act, 1898, for the whole of Ireland. Those apprentices serving at present to Solicitors in Northern Ireland who were apprentices on the first day of October, 1921, can continue their lectures and pass their examinations under the Incorporated Law Society of Ireland. Examinations Results. At the Preliminary Examination, held on the 5th and 6th October, the following passed the examination, and their names are arranged in order of merit:— 1. Thomas C. Williams. 2. James J. Hickey. 3. James A. Rice, 4. Joseph Murray. 5. Joseph O'Dwyer. 6. Mark F. Conroy. Edward A. Margetson passed the modified Preliminary Examination, for which he had liberty to present himself. Nine candidates attended : 7 passed ; 2 were postponed. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION PRIZES, 1922. A Silver Medal was awarded to John H. Bergin. At the Intermediate Examination, held upon the 10th October, the following passed the examination, and their names are classed and arranged in order of merit:— CLASS I. 1. Robert Erskine. 2. John S. O'Connor. 3. Laurence Kirwan. 4. Michael J. Alien. 5. Frank Thornton. 6. Denis J. Bergin. 7. Charles S. Quinlan.

Appointments.

The been appointed by the Provisional Government to be District Justices :— Mr. Louis J. Walsh, of Maghera, at Letterkenny, for District No. 1. Mr. J. Crotty, of Wexford, at Donegal, for District No. 2. Mr. John J. Molloy, of Birr, at Carrick- on-Shannon, for District No. 4. Mr. George P. Cussen, of Dublin, at Dublin, for District No. 11. Mr. John Forde, of Dundalk, at Oughterard, for District No. 12. Mr. Dermot F. Gleeson, of Nenagh, at Ennis, for District No. 16. Mr. Bartholomew J. Goff, of Dublin, at Kilkenny, for District No. 18. Registrations of Judgments, etc. Messrs. Stubbs' Year Books and Gazette Indexes for six years, 1917-22, inclusive, which contain an index of information for six years, 1916-21, inclusive, relating to Bankruptcies, Deeds of Arrangement, Petitions for Arrangement, Bills of Sale, and Judgments in Ireland, are among the books which can be obtained by members from the Secretary's Office, 33 Molesworth Street. Solicitors' Golfing Society. The above Society held their Autumn Competition at Portmarnock, on Thursday, the 28th Sept. There were forty-eight com petitors, of whom Mr. Plunkett Kenney was the best with a nett score of 78 ; Master Denning and Mr. Tracy tieing for second place with a score of 80. Mr. D. Sullivan won the prize for best gross with 85, and Mr. Chidley won the prize for the best 9 holes with 36|. In the afternoon foursome sweepstakes were played.
