Power in Ukraine

Despite the current instability in Ukraine the first deputy governor of the Odessa region, Natalya Chegodar, has announced that developers Valorem and WKN Windkraft Nord plan to build power projects in its Ovidiopolsky area. Both projects are believed to be in the early stages of development. The total investment by the French developer Valorem is estimated at €250 million and is expected to be commissioned in 2019-2020. Details of the WKN project are yet to be disclosed. According to Windpower Intelligence, neither company currently owns a project in the country. Earlier this year, Compagnie Nationale du Rhône (CNR), one of France's largest energy companies, announced a 50MW capacity development in the Zaporizhzhya region of Ukraine, costing around €70 million.

Cable manufacturer Leoni AG plans to add new products and expand the output capacity at its production facility in Trenčin, in Slovakia’s western region. The firm aims to invest €14.1m at the facility, the Slovak foreign investment and tradeagency SARIO revealed in a statement. The project will create around 170 new jobs at the factory. The German manufacturer “plans to introduce a newgeneration of data cables, special cables, connectors and fuses” in Trenčin, the statement said. The Slovak factory supplies its output to producers active in the automotive and electrical industries, and is ISO 9001, 14001 and 16949 certified.
