Roads &Traffic Safety

FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES

INCLUSION

 Plan implementation strategy for pedestrian and cyclist access to LRT stations.

PUBLIC SAFETY

 Launch Safe Mobility Plan and work with RCMP toward a goal to reduce roadway collisions by 30% over 5 years;  Work with the RCMP on collision data and analysis sharing to improve road safety and reduce crime with enforcement including Data Driven Approach in Crime and Traffic Safety program;

 Construct $2.5M of transportation and mobility improvements under the Safe and Active Schools Program;  Develop and implement safety improvements at top 10 collision intersections; and  Initiate development of the safe mobility strategies and programs.

ECONOMIC PROSPERITY & LIVELIHOODS

 Partner with TransLink on mobility pricing pilot with Washington State;  Improve service levels for traffic control through engagement and evaluation of process and practices; and

 Initiate LED street light replacement program and assess/pilot associated Smart Technologies, including WiFi and dimming.

ECOSYSTEMS

 Obtain funding commitments from senior government for early delivery of the 27km LRT network.

EDUCATION & CULTURE

 Communicate and advocate for LRT for Surrey;  Implement Inter-Regional Commercial Corridor Travel Time System; and

 Initiate planning for transportation engagement and outreach program.
