Delta Dental of Wisconsin - Behind Every Smile, We See a Story.

Meeting the need: Making statewide philanthropy more impactful

OUR FOUNDAT ION I S AT WORK IN MORE THAN 90% OF WI SCONS IN COUN T I E S

Since we opened our doors more than 50 years ago, Delta Dental of Wisconsin has welcomed the chance to contribute to healthier communities. Extending access to dental care is one of the foundations in our mission – and today, it’s needed more than ever.

In Wisconsin:

• Most dentists’ Medicaid reimbursements don’t cover the cost of dental treatment1; • Wisconsin ranks among the lowest in the nation for Medicaid-covered dental treatment for children. The latest report indicates just 29.7% of BadgerCare recipients ages 1 - 20 saw a dentist2; and • Nearly 1 in 4 of our state’s Head Start children have untreated dental care needs3.

Whether we are supporting nonprofit dental clinics that help underserved populations or funding scholarships to help support Wisconsin’s future oral-health workforce, we want our philanthropy to make a real, measurable difference.

To increase the impact of our contributions, we make strategic choices in our philanthropic partnerships, and focus on clearly identified needs within Wisconsin.

Our employees want to give their time to community causes, too. Delta Dental’s employee volunteer program encourages volunteerism across the organization. Many use their time for events like Mission of Mercy or the Special Smiles program at the Wisconsin Special Olympics State Games. We also match employee charitable contributions to the nonprofit of their choice.
