UNIVERSITY OF SAN DIEGO CoACIIING STAFF ERIK JOHNSON - 2ND YEAR
Erik Johnson begins his second season on USD's staff, bringing proven experience as a recrui ter, motivator and enthu siasti c teacher of the game. The program's recruiting coordinator, Erik is also in charge of post play instruction, scouting and practice planning. Before joining the Torero staff, Johnson spent four seasons at the University of Rhode Island - the last two as first assistant under head coach Linda Z iemke. In addit ion to managing the bulk of the recru iting duties for the Rams, Johnson 's primary coac hing responsibilities at URI included developing post players, shooting, defense and scouting.
A native of San Jose, CA, Johnson was a four-year letter-winner at UC San Diego, leading the Tri tons to three NCAA Division Ill Tournament appearances including a Sweet- I6. He served as captai n and was the team's leading scorer as a senior comp leting his career as the all-time career and sing le-season three-point record holder. Johnson holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from UC San Diego ( 1994) and completed his Master's Degree in Adult Ed ucation from the Universi ty of Rhode Island in 1997. Johnson recentl y married Laura Davis, a member of the USA National Voll eyba ll team, and currently res ides in Mira Mesa. NADINE MASTROLEO - 2ND YEAR
Nadine Mastroleo enters her second year at USD after spending three years as the first ass istant at Co lgate Universi ty, under head coach Ron Rohn. Mastroleo was involved in all facets of the Red Raiders recruiting efforts. In charge of Academic Advisement for the Toreros, Nadine also is in charge of point guard deve lopment, recruiting, scouting and practice planning. In her playing career, Mastroleo spent one season at Syracuse before transferring to Un ivers ity at Buffalo, where she twice led the Roya ls to East Coast Conference champi onships and served as team captain in her senior season. While at Syracuse she was awarded the Mary Ann
Renehan award given to the player demonstrating tremendous courage and desire, and while at Buffalo won Most Improved honors and the coaches award followin g her seni or campai gn. A native of Buffalo, NY, Mastroleo served on the Health and Wellness Committee at Colgate and coordi nated a student-athl ete lec ture series, obtai ning funding through the Patriot League. She also coordi nated Co lgate's Fighting Eating Di sorders Group (FEDS) throughout the uni vers ity community. Mastroleo graduated in 1994 with a Bachel or's degree in Hea lth and Human Services from Buffalo.
LAKEYSHA WRIGHT - 4TH YEAR Lakeysha Wright en ters her fourth season as a member of the USD coaching staff. Wright joined the program a fter a fi ve-year run with San Diego State; four years as a player and one as a student ass istant coach. During her three years at USD, she has been invol ved in re– cruiting, scouting, developing the sk ill s of perimeter players and as– sists with practice pl anning.
Wright made a substanti al impact with the Aztecs from 1991-95. During her four year career, she helped lead SDSU to three NCAA Tourname nt appearances and back-to-back WAC titles. The Aztecs had a 87-31 record during her career. Wri ght rank s fourth all -time in San Diego State hi story in assists (358) and ninth in stea ls ( 153). She was named to the Western Ath leti c Conference All-Tournament Team and earned All– Defensive Team honors. She also was an All-WAC Honorabl e Mention se lecti on in 1995 . During her senior season, Wri ght was named team MVP and best defensive player along with her twin sister Fa li sha - who pl ayed in the American Basketball League for three seasons. In her last season with the Aztecs, she di shed out 165 assists, a total that ranks seventh on the Aztecs' all – time sing le season ass ist chart. Wri ght is a native of Paterson, New Jersey and holds a bache lor's degree in physical education rece ived from San Diego State in 1996. "FREE THROWS WIN GAMES ." - ROLLIE MARPE
