Kaeo Gouveia returns for his third season with the Toreros where he will start at cornerback ... last season he finished 5th in tackles (66) and first in interceptions (5) ... he earned PFL Defensive Player of the Week honors in the Toreros last two games against Whittier (2 interceptions including 46 yard return for TD) and Wagner (11 tackles; 2 interceptions for 30 yards) ... he also tallied 10 stops against Evansville and Valparaiso ...he was named a San Diego Hall of Champions Star of the Month for November ... he played a decent amount his freshman year (1996) at cornerback and was a key contributor ... finished 14th on the team in tackles with 16 (5 solo) .. . he played in 9 games with 3 starts ... he tallied 4 tackles (1 solo) at Butler ... he chipped in 3 tackles in win at Azusa Pacific ... had a big interception against Valparaiso in the first quarter that ended their drive, and ultimately was a key play in team's 10-7 PFL victory ... from Kailua, Hawaii, prepped at Kamehameha High School where he lettered in both football and baseball ... in football was 2nd Team All-State and 2nd Team All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu ... twin brother (Kelii) plays football at La Verne. David Lembo enters his third season with the Torero offensive unit ... a two-year letterman, David backed up Jared Keo at fullback ... he appeared in 9 games last season finishing with 136 yards on 30 carries (4.5 yards per carry average) .. . he busted loose for a 27 yard gain against Azusa Pacific, finishing the game with 41 yards on 7 carries ... he rushed for 24 yards in win over Redlands, adding an 18-yard gain along the way .. . caught a4-yard TD pass from Mike Stadler in season finale against Wagner ... in 1996 he appeared in 6 games, finishing with 26 yards (long of 10 yards vs. Cal Lu) ... a two-sport letterwinner at USD, David also plays baseball where this past season he batted .333 in 22 games ... he prepped at Mesa High School in Mesa, Arizona -- his senior year the football team went 10-0, won the East Valley Conference and finished first in the state rankings ... he was a First Team All-State selection ... baseball team won two East Valley Conference titles and twice he was named Honorable Mention All-

Khalid Maxie enters his third season with the Toreros .. . moves to wide receiver in 1998 after playing defensive back in '97; could also see action on special teams on returns ... last year played in all 11 games finishing with 14 tackles, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 pass break-ups ... posted4 stops against Saint Mary's ... in 1996 as a freshman saw action on both sides of the ball at defensive back and wide receiver ... in five games caught 5 passes for 41 yards with a long of 12 versus Saint Mary ' s ... defensively finished with 6 tackles, l pass deflection and 1 interception ... he returned the interception 20 yards in win over Cal Lu ... in season final , caught 2 balls against Dayton for 12 yards .. . prepped at Montclair HS where he was a two-time All-Mt. Baldy League selection at both receiver and defensive back ... was a CIF qualifier in both wrestling and track. Major: Education; Minor: Leadership.

Kona Nakanelua enters his third season with the Toreros .. . a two-year letterman, Kana started last season at offensive tackle ... played key role with offensive line that posted four games without allowing a quarterback sack, and six other contests with just one ... holds offensive line records for Clean and Jerk exercises; had very solid spring and summer of training ... personal bests include clean (270), jerk (344), squat (430) and bench press (345) .. . chose USD for its academics, diversity of activities and location to Hawaii ... from Kaneohe, Hawaii , Kana prepped at St. Louis High where senior year the team went 12-1 and were ranked Ist in the state ... 2nd Team All-Interscholastic League of Honolulu and 3- time scholar-athlete ... also played baseball in high school ... enjoys beach activities San Diego provides and weight lifting ... brother (Mahoe) plays baseball at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. --------.. Eric Rossitto enters his junior season with the USD football program ... projected to see considerable playing time at receiver this season with four of top five receivers gone from '97 club ... prepped at Placer High School where he was a three-sport letterman in football, basketball and baseball ... over his final two seasons, the football team went 18-2, won two Sierra Foothill League titles and were ranked as high as 6th in the state ... senior year was named Defensive Player of the Year and was a two– time 1st Team All-Sierra Foothill League performer ... chose USD for its academics.
