WHAT IS A TORERO AToreroisaMexicanBullftghter. Prior to 1963, the USO nickname was the ''Pioneers." The origin of the university's Torero nickname is unknown, but the founding father or USO, Bishop Buddy, was quite fascinated with Mexican history and it is believed that the unique nickname is a result or his influence.
