uilding FINANCIAL LITERACY

A hand up, not a handout. Habitat for Humanity does not give homes away. Homebuyers pay Habitat a low or no interest mortgage that does not exceed 30% of their income. Through the approval process, Habitat homebuyers demonstrate a need for safe, affordable housing, have the ability to pay a mortgage and contribute sweat equity to build their home and the homes

Habitat for Humanity is breaking the cycle of poverty by preparing families for homeownership through a series of required classes that cover homeownership: finance and savings, predatory lending and banking, budgeting and investing, debt and loans, insurance, warranty and construction maintenance, writing a will, and the entire mortgage process. Acquiring an in-depth understanding of these concepts helps partner families develop the skills and tools they need to build and maintain a solid future. B uilding
