Örn Þorsteinsson (1948) studied art at the Icelandic College of Arts and Crafts and the Swedish Royal Academy in the late 1970s. Though Þorsteinsson has frequently worked on large pieces, some of his most memorable works are his “Travel pieces”, miniature sculptures made from pliable materials that he carries with him wherever he goes. These pieces are his thoughts made visible, ruminations on the Icelandic landscape and biomorphic fantasies arising from it.
