NORWAY- Norris “Luke” Lucas age 79 of Norway, died Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Dickinson Co. Memorial Hospital in Iron Mountain, Michigan. He was born on May 8, 1937 in Oil City, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Norris J. and Pearl E. (Taft) Lucas. There are three simple words to describe Luke, Live, Laugh, and Love. He lived for his family; he loved the Lord and his laughter, smile and sense of humor, lit up the room. Luke was blessed to work with many great people over the years and made many friends along the way, whom he loved and respected. Luke loved and cared for his family and everyone he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Frances; his seven children Nina (Jeff) Hurst, Norris (Cindy) Lucas, David Lucas, James (Melissa) Lucas, Bryan (Melissa) Lucas, Sonia (James) Cetnarowski, and Yvonne (Frank) DiPaola; 13 grandchildren Jonathan Rylant, Christopher Lucas, Natasha McCarthy, James Lucas, Frances Anderson, Brittany, Katherine, and Danielle Lucas, Pearl Webber, Jared and Michael Allred, Ashley and Ambur Cetnarowski; 9 great grandchildren; brother James (Kay) Lucas of Arizona; sister Mary Carlson of Iron Mountain; brother in-law Robert Krol, Sr. of Erie, PA; and many nieces and nephews. Luke was preceded in death by his parents; and sister Sandra Krol. Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 17 from 11-2 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church in Norway. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Evangelical Covenant Church with Pastor James Danielson officiating. Interment will be held at Riverside Cemetery in the spring. Arrangements were made with the Ortman Funeral Home in Norway. NORWAY- Milton R. Nyberg age 86 of Norway, went to his eternal home on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Manor Care in Kingsford, Michigan. Milton was born in Norway on June 27, 1930, the son of the late Harold G. and Nancy (Soderbeck) Nyberg. Milton graduated from Norway High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Korea from 1951-1953. Milt held several jobs during his working years: the Norway Sewing Factory, Khoury Furniture, the City of Norway, and the VA Medical Center (from which he retired from the food services department in 1993). He was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church of Norway and worked to maintain the church for many years. Always enjoying music, Milt also sang in the church choir. He fondly remembered playing guitar and mandolin in the church string band. Milt enjoyed nature and the beloved family camp, Maple Grove. In October, he was able to revisit the rustic camp and enjoyed a pasty and his first 4-wheeler ride. In his younger years he also enjoyed working in his flower garden. Milton was a kind, gentle man who loved his family. After his parents died, he was the caregiver for his younger brother. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his sisters, Lenore Soderlund of Norway and Joyce Fredrickson of Santa Barbara, CA, nieces, Beth Henrion and Nancy Zelman, and nephews, Chuck Soderlund, Kurt Fredrickson and Brad Fredrickson. Milton was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Donald, and brother-in- laws, Irving Bing Soderlund and Norm Fredrickson. The family wishes to thank his former caregivers from Hyland Nursing Home, Pinecrest Medical Facility, and Manor Care Nursing Home. His doctors, nurses, and caregivers were exemplary. Jan. 18, 2017 at the Oscar G. Johnson V.A. Medical Center in Iron Mountain. He was born on June 5, 1938 in Marinette, the son of the late Russell and Ruth (Seymour) Deau. Roger served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1963. He was a deputy for the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department, a truck driver for Smeester Brothers, Zeeb, and Neil Barglind trucking companies, a police officer for the City of Norway, and a custodian for Norway Public Schools, He married Norma Cowling on June 5, 1969 in Iron Mountain. Roger was a member of the Hall D. Winter American Legion Post #145 in Norway. He enjoyed spending time at the Norway Speedway and had served on its board. He also enjoyed going to rummage sales. He is survived by his wife Norma, one daughter Cynthia (Ron) Arnold of Norway, four sons Scott (Michelle) Deau of Quinnesec, Dan (Sally) Deau of Quinnesec, Mike (Dorri) Deau of Georgia, and Rusty (Tammy) Deau of Kingsford, his brother Robert (Karen) Deau of Amberg, his twin brother Ronald (Pat) Deau of Beecher, two former daughters-in-law Raejean Deau of Norway and Brenda Deau of Marinette, ten grandchildren, including a special grandson Dakota Arnold, 11 great grandchildren, including his "pride and joy" his great granddaughter Abagale Deau, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son James Deau, four sisters Bev (Bill) Giguere, Dorothy (Joe) Sterm, June (Joe) Champeau, and Marion Deau, one brother Russell Deau, and one grandson Gregory Maynard. Visitation was Saturday, January 21st from 10am-12 noon at Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home. Services followed at 12 noon at the funeral home. Military rites will be accorded by the Hall D. Winter American Legion Post #145. Burial will be in the Norway Cemetery.
