Associate Director of Athletics Dan Yourg has been a member of the USO Athletics De– partment since the fall of 1985. Yourg oversees football, baseball, men's basketball, golf, men's soccer, and men's and women's tennis. Yourg serves as the NCAA

Brian Fogarty is in his second year as USO' s Associate Director ofAthletics for Ath– letic Development. He took over this post after spending thirteen years as USD's head football coach. He directed USD's football program to eleven seasons of .500 or better records and guided their move from the NCAA Division III ranks to the NCAA I-AA level in 1993. His primary responsibilities are with fund raising, and marketing and promotions for the athletic department. Brian and his wife Vicki, who reside in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, have four children: Bridget (a senior at USO), Joe, Colleen and Megan.

Yourg received his Bachelor's (Sociology, 1980) and Master's (Social Work, 1986) degrees from the University ofWisconsin, where he was a nose guard on the Badgers' football team. Dan and his wife Virginia, a USO alumnus, are the parents of two sons, John and Thomas.

Wendy Guthrie Assistant Athletics Director I Senior Woman Administrator

Renee Wiebe Assistant Director of Athletics for Marketing and Promotions

Wendy Guthrie is in her second year with the university as the Assistant Athletics Direc– tor and first as Senior Woman Administrator. Guthrie is a 199 l graduate of Whittier Col– lege (B.A. in Business Administration) where she was a member of the cross country team.

Renee Wiebe has been hired for the new position of Assistant Athletic Director for Marketing and Promotions. Her previous ex– perience in athletics was at the University of Northern Iowa where she was Marketing and Promotions Director from l993-95. Prior to that she was Promotions Assistant at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. Wiebe earned her Bachelor of Journalism-Broadcast Sequence from the University ofMissouri-Columbia in May, 199 l . She went on to earn her Masters of Education with an emphasis in Sports Administration from Wichita State University in August, 1993.

Upon graduation she worked as an admissions counselor and Assistant Director of Admissions at Whittier. She earned her Master's in Physical Education with a concentration in Athletic Administration at Springfield College inMassachusetts while working a fellowship for two years. After Springfield, she held the position ofAssistant Director of Athletics at St. Francis College in Pennsylvania for one year. She also has worked with the Colorado Sports Council and assisted at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Sara Hickmann Academic Support Coordinator

Sara is in her first year as USD's Academic Support Coordinator. She earned her B.A. degree in Psychology from UCLA in 1990. She held tutor and supervisor positions for the UCLA Athletic Department and also served as a Peer Health Counselor for two years. After

Steve is in his third year as the University of San Diego Strength and Conditioning Coach. He came to San Diego from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach since 1991.

earning her M.A. degree in Sport Psychology at San Diego State in 1993, she accepted a position as the Academic Counselor for the EOP program. Her research interests are in motivation, self-esteem, and exercise. She also has published several articles in her field.

A 1983 graduate of Brown University, with a degree in Biology, Steve was a two-sport letterman in football (defensive back) and track (long jumper). He earned his Master's degree in Human Kinetics in 199 l from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. From 1983-90 he was an assistant football coach at Wauwatosa East High School in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, and assisted in track in 1988. He is currently working on his Ph .Din Physical Education (focus in Exercise Physiology).
