Mass Add Students to Courses/Classes - Skyward Student

INSTRUCTIONS - Mass Add Students to Course/Classe allows you to use Homeroom list of students and mass add them to the rest of their courses. (00HRM/001 to 00LNG/001, 00MTH/001). We recommend that you run this in August before school starts however you can run it early in Future Scheduling. This utility will have to be run for each homeroom course/section separately.

 Mass Add Students to Courses/Classes

1. Enter the Course # (00HRM) or click Course to find the course that you want to use to pull the list of students that will be adding to their other courses. Then in the Class field enter the section # that corresponds to the homeroom course (i.e. 001) or click Class to find the section. Utility is run for each section # separately.

2. Select Copy Source to Target and Using Section Selection. Then under Target Classes click the Scheduled Class button.

*You don’t need to do courses requests.

3. Select the courses/sections (i.e. 00LNG/001 & 00MTH/001) that you want to copy (add) the students to. These courses will correspond to the source course from step 1. Do not select the homeroom course in the Select Classes screen. Keep in mind that the higher grades also have SCI, SOC & TEC courses. You can also use a filter to filter out just the section number that you are looking for (see instructions below).

4. Double check that the homeroom course/section from the source course corresponds to the course/sections listed in the target classes scheduled class. If everything is correct then click Run.

5. Let the utility run on your screen.

6. Review list of students to be Mass Copied then click Process.

*Repeat for all courses/classes (homerooms) that you want mass move students from.

Helpful Filter Used On The Select Classes Screen In Step 3.

1. Select the blue Quick Filter icon. The filter will expand. Then you will enter the section # that you want to use in the Sec column on the top and bottom (i.e. 001). Then click Apply Filter.

2. You will see just a list of courses that have the same section that you have chosen (i.e. 00HRM/001, 00LNG/001 & 00MTH/001). Select the other courses that you want to add the students to (i.e. 00LNG/001 & 00MTH/001). Do not select the homeroom course. Then click Select. You can then go back to step 4. You will need to repeat steps 1 & 2 of the filter and change the section # for each utility that you run.

Using Quick Filters and Filters in Entry by Class - Skyward Student Web

INSTRUCTIONS - Quick Filter and Filters are useful tools for customizing data lists in Skyward. A Quick Filter allows a user to narrow what data is displayed on the screen. A Filter allows a user to customize how columns are displayed and/or narrow what data is displayed on the screen. These examples narrow filters by kindergarten.

Quick Filter Example

Using a Quick Filter to Narrow Entry by Class Add Student List to Kindergarten only  Office  Future Scheduling  Student Schedule Generation  Entry by Class

1. Find the course/section and expand it 2. Click Add Student

3. A list of all students will display click the Quick Filter.

4. The Quick Filter setup box will display. Narrow Grd (Grade) column to Low = 00 and High = 00. Then Apply Filter.

5. The Quick Filter will be applied to the list so that only kindergarten students are displayed.

Remove (Un-apply) a Quick Filter

1. Click the drop down arrow then choose another filter

Creating a Filter to Narrow Entry by Class Add Student List to Kindergarten only

1. Above the data list click

2. Click Add Filter

3. Enter a filter name (i.e. Kindergarten). On the Grd (Grade) row change Low and High Values to narrow what information is displayed on the screen (i.e. Low: 00 and High: 00). Click Save and Apply Filter when finished.

4. The Filter (i.e. Kindergarten) will be applied to the list so that only kindergarten students are displayed.

Note: if scheduling multiple grade levels it is very useful to create one filter per grade level (i.e. 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, etc...) to use when scheduling other classes. You can also narrow the NY Sts (Next Yr Status).
