PHYSICIAN CEO Alumni Directory

Richard A. Norden, MD, FACS is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cornea and refractive

surgery specialist who no longer practices cornea and external disease. He trained in ophthalmology at the UMDNJ

residency and performed his refractive and cornea fellowship at The New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. He taught at

the cornea and refractive clinics at both training programs for many years and was medical director of the NJ Eye

Bank and also the founder and president of the Cornea and Keratorefractive Society of NJ. He is currently the

director of Norden Laser Eye Associates. Dr. Norden started a non-invasive aesthetic-based practice, Aesthetics by

Norden several years ago and is its director.

In addition to laser vision correction, Dr. Norden began dabbling in aesthetics ten years ago as his patients

continued to ask him if there was anything he could do to get rid of their crow’s feet after correcting them with

monovision so that they could then see their imperfections. He began by performing neuroparalytic injections in that

area, which then spread to relaxing muscles in the entire face. Several years ago, Dr. Norden added fillers to his

practice and as his interest grew, he added body sculpting and skin-tightening to his repertoire. He has a number of

freezing and heating (radio frequency) devices that accomplish this non-invasively, with no downtime.

Most recently he has added micro needling RF to accomplish fractional resurfacing without the downtime of

traditional fractional lasers. Dr. Norden loves performing LASIK on thin corneas (as long as there is adequate RSB)

particularly when the patient has been told that they're not a candidate. Dr. Norden is an avid tennis player when his

tennis elbow is not acting up. He's a huge Yankee fan and has had season tickets for many years.

Despite being happily married, he enjoys fast cars and slow women, or is it the other way around? Dr. Norden has

played piano and keyboards for decades but will admit that he hasn't had as much time for that as he'd like recently.

He loves to travel and generally takes one or two exotic trips per year with his family.

In both of Dr. Norden's practices, the mission statement is the same: to perform with the highest levels of skill, to

produce the best results, while providing the best medical experience that patients can have with world-class

customer service.
