Matthew D. Hammond, M.D., FACS is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a fellow

of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Cataract and

Refractive Surgeons and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Hammond provides medical and

surgical eye care for patients of all ages.

Post residency, Dr. Hammond was selected Chief of Ophthalmology at Bayne- Jones Army Community

Hospital. He was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal and the Humanitarian award for his efforts at

Bayne-Jones and during Hurricane Katrina.

Upon completion of that assignment, he was promoted to Chief of Ophthalmology and Director of WarFighter

Refractive Surgery at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. While in Germany, he served as the

European Consultant for Ophthalmology and refractive surgery.

Dr. Hammond was also the “go to” doctor for all eye care needs for theaters of engagement in the Middle East,

Africa and Europe. His greatest honor has been serving the injured Soldiers, Marines, Sailors and Airmen of the

United States Military. For his service at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, he was awarded the Meritorious

Service Medal.

Originally from Cache Valley, Dr. Hammond and his wife Jennifer have four boys and a girl. Dr. Hammond

enjoys skiing, tennis, waterskiing, and traveling with his family.
