Peter Lloyd Hildebrand, MD is a fellowship trained ophthalmic plastic & reconstructive surgeon in New York City.

As a Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of Oklahoma’s Dean McGee Eye Institute, Dr Hildebrand is

also a seasoned academic ophthalmologist, educator, researcher and entrepreneur.

Dr Hildebrand has CEO-level experience managing a large multi-specialty primary care practice (7 clinics) as well as

startup and early stage medical technology companies; had leadership roles in local, regional, national and

international professional organizations; experienced in international ophthalmology; knowledgeable in design and

conduct of research trials, regulatory affairs, quality management systems; expertise in health information technology,

health policy and health services reimbursement; manager experienced in business planning, fund raising, recruitment

and leadership of senior management teams and board governance, marketing and sales management, financial

management and budgeting, marketing, business turn-around, corporate governance; innovative and results-oriented

leadership skills.

Dr Hildebrand has served as the Chair of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Medical Information

Technology Committee for the last 11 years; represented the AAO on the SNOMED Editorial Board, the DICOM

Standards Committee and the Physicians Electronic Health Records Consortium. He was the first non-radiologist co

-Chair of the DICOM Standards Committee and led the AAO’s Convergent Terminology Project to develop a

subset ophthalmic terminology SNOMED-CT.

Dr. Hildebrand served as the Associate Director for the University of Oklahoma Center for Telemedicine

responsible for Clinical Services. He is a principal investigator for a multicenter collaborative trial for the

development and evaluation of a telemedicine system for teleretinal imaging for retinopathy of prematurity funded

by the National Eye Institute. He directs the Global Eye Care Fellowship training program providing blindness

prevention programs both locally and through international collaborations in Sichuan Province (China) and

Swaziland. He was a co-founder and CEO and currently serves as Chairman of Inoveon Corporation, an internet-

based telemedicine company spawned from the OU Center for Telemedicine that provides remote teleretinal

imaging and reading services.
