About the authors:

Aram Arakelyan is a pianist, collaborative artist, and educator whose performances have taken him to venues throughout the United States and abroad. He is currently on the faculty of the University of North Texas and has previously taught at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. A sought-after collaborator, he has served on the staff of numerous international festivals and competitions, including the Festival Internacional de Flauta y Maderas, the International Horn Symposium, and the Primrose International Viola Competition. His recordings include Viola Music of Latin America with violist Edward Gazouleas and Reflections of May with hornist Layne Anspach. He holds degrees from the University of Utah, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Southern California, where he was awarded the Gwendolyn Koldofsky Fellowship. Stephen Wyrczynski is Professor of Viola at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University, and will join the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University as Professor of Viola in 2027. A member of the Philadelphia Orchestra from 1992–2010, he is also Artist Faculty at the Aspen Music Festival and School. Widely recognized as a performer, teacher, and chamber musician, he has collaborated with leading artists and performed throughout North America. His recent scholarly and artistic work includes a transcription of Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring for viola and piano, premiered and recorded with pianist Aram Arakelyan.
